Secretary's Report Year Ending 31st July 2009

I have been acting as Secretary since February 2009 when I was co-opted onto the Committee.

I can report that over this financial year the Committee of 9 elected members has met on 11 occasions and it has functioned extremely well as a team, with great strength coming from individual skills and good teamwork. There have been an additional 3 co-opted members helping out since February 2009.

The Group Annual report has been completed and sent to Head Office and the Charity Commission return has also been completed. Contact with IAM House has been constant and we have a good relationship with key personnel and also with the Regional Officer, Angela Linsky.

We have held publicity events at Sainsbury’s and Tarporley Round Table, amongst others, with free assessed drives being offered. One result of this has been an increased number of associates joining the group.

In 2008/9 we have had 50 new associates join and to date there have been 28 test passes – one every fortnight!

As far as the current membership is concerned CANAM currently has 80 full members and 40 associates and 8 Friends. We are in the process of trying to change payment for membership to a standing order as this will reduce the amount of time and cost incurred in the membership renewal process. Currently 44 members have sent in a standing order mandate and 10 cheques have been received for membership renewal. This means however that 45 members and 31 associates are still to respond and another reminder will need to be sent with the next newsletter.

We currently have 18 observers and more are being trained up at the moment.
