Since passing my driving test in September 2006, and being a typically, car-mad, young male, I have always been on the look out for ways of improving my driving skills, and very interested in pursuing the Advanced Driving Test. However, I knew very little about the IAM, the test itself, or how I went about joining. By pure chance, I met my former history master, Danny Cawdron, at the local gym, and he recommended the IAM to me, also Crewe and Nantwich Advanced Motorists, which I joined in February 2009.
To my great surprise and enormous delight, I passed my Advanced Test in October 2009, at the first attempt. I should like to take this opportunity to thank my observer, Ian Hughes, for providing me with expert tuition and guidance during our time together (not to mention the numerous cups of coffee!) A true gentleman, Ian’s enthusiasm for driving and expertise made developing my driving skills to an advanced level a highly enjoyable and rewarding exercise.
I’d also like to thank Barry Whittle and Sean Clarke for taking me on Check Runs – it was useful to get a third and fourth opinion on my driving skills, and their feedback helped refine my development as a driver. A thank you too, to all the people I have met within CANAM for making me feel welcome as a new member.
Needless to say, I shall have no hesitation in recommending CANAM and the IAM to all of my relatives and friends.
