Crewe and Nantwich Advanced Motorists (CANAM)
Vision Meeting – Tuesday 9th March 2010 – The Hawk, Haslington, 8 p.m.
First of all, I would like to reiterate my comments in the last Newsletter, thanking James for his professional approach to guiding the CANAM group to where it is today. A Group that has growing Associate, Observer and Senior Observer numbers, and maintains the function of the local group in supporting the IAM nationally i.e., to recruit members locally, coordinate Associates training, training (and re-training) of Observers, and representing the IAM in South Cheshire.
We have a small but strong committee, passionate about the IAM ethos, and road safety, spending many volunteer hours at various events, leading to recruitment of Associates and safer roads in Cheshire. We have been particularly successful with our attendance at The Sandbach Festival of Transport, our Sainsbury’s Day, and the Skid Pan events of which there were 4 during 2009. I would like to thank all those involved with organising and/or attending these, and other events and making them a success.
I believe, through feedback I have received, that Members and Associates would have liked to have been more involved in CANAM activities and social events. So I was disappointed when, in January, I had to cancel the Vision Meeting.
So, time to take some action! I would like to invite you all to the rearranged Vision Meeting to be held as detailed above. Remember the CANAM local Group is about you – the Member or Associate who make up the Group, not the Committee. Could I ask you then, to check your diaries and let me know if you can come to the meeting? Everyone is welcome. chairman@crewenantwicham.org.uk
The purpose of the meeting is to re-engage with Members and Associates and find out what you would like to participate in, and how often. For example, I think the Group should have bi-monthly Group social events, consisting of activities like, Go-carting, treasure hunts, 10 pin-bowling…. But that’s what I think, what would you like to do? Please come along and let me know.
